Evaluation - Audience Feedback

Introduction
We will be explaining the audiences feedback on how we could have improved our music video. We we will be evaluating what was effective and what was not so effective. We reflect on this to help us to change and adjust any flaws in our music video. So we will be explaining the Editing, Mise en Scene, Camera Angles, Special effects and many more which will be mentioned in the following paragraph.

What went well
Narrative
The narrative went well because the audience understood that the lyrics and the scenes correlated together which allowed them to understand the whole storyline. The storyline had a linear structure the beginning, middle and end.

Characters
The audience commented on the acting ability of the characters especially Rihanna and Young Female. They felt that they related to the characters they were playing very well.

Lip Sync
The lip sync went very well , the audience commented on the characters Rihanna's Lip sync they felt that she was very familiar with the lyrics and she acted and felt the song. She related and acted it out very well.

Mise en Scene - Symbolism
They loved how the Mise en Scene was the Bedroom and the Rihanna's setting the Light and the Dark. The clothes that the Rihanna character was wearing they found it relatable to teenagers of this generation.

Camera Angles
The camera angles was successful the scene where the female was framed in a circle allowed the lyrics and the scene to correlate. The scene where the female was writing in the diary shows that the lyrics were personal because the lyrics which were being sung is what was being written in the diary and a diary is symbolic which means someones secrets so teenagers could relate , and the fact that she had a diary portrays her as childish vulnerable , it shows that she has nobody to talk to or confide to about her problems so she's writing it in her diary, her problems are being narrated by the lyrics of the song.

the scene where the female who was singing was spinning was creating suspense like something was going to happen rapid cuts were used in this scene while the main actress was over dosing on pills. They also enjoyed the scene were the lighting and the song fades to silence.

What went wrong
After addressing our targeted audience before we made the video they requested what they wanted to see  in our music video. As a team we did the best we could do to try and cater to what they asked us to add to the video to make it appealing to them , In result we made the video and the targeted audience gave us feedback on our video , what they thought went well and what they thought we could have improved on.

Special effects
The audience's first critique was on the use of special effects, they stated that we used too much fast and slow motion in the video and that we should have used a variety of special effects. The ending scene when the girl dies in the end the audience said that when she disappeared the caera moved and it didn't stay in the same place. They also stated that the character who was playing the main girls freind who texts her in a scene , was confusing at one point they couldn't tell who she was playing.

Mother
In addition they claimed that it was difficult to figure out the character that Wonu Olayinka was playing which was supposed to be the mother. In an actual production we would have hired an actual mother figure to play the mother role so this would have allowed the audience to recognise the mother. They thought that the character looked like she was the same age as the young girl, the audience felt that the character Wonu who was playing the mother did not look like the mother that she was trying to play. They also stated that if we did have a real mother figure it would have been easier to form a bond between the audience so they could relate to the scene rather than the confusion it created when they didn't know which character wonu was playing.

Green screen
None the less they mentioned that in the green screen we should have used a better green screen for "The love scene in new york" because the actors looked fuzzy. The green screen was not perfect because it was obvious that the characters were not really there, when the character pointed it was out of focus because the audience did not know where she was pointing to, was it a building etc. The motion of the scene was to fast the emotions were not able to be seen.
We could have used a variety of special effects e.g. cloning

Continuity
The audience commented saying that the scene where the text states "ITS OVER" the audience did not have enough time to read the text. They also said that the fade to a monster should have been the male character and that the smile should have been the female this would have allowed them to see that the lyrics and the scene correlate.
